John H (Jack) Schuenemeyer (PhD 1975) John H (Jack) Schuenemeyer, UGS PhD Statistics, 1975, has been named Distinguished Lecturer for 2012 by the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG). Anyone interested in having Jack make a presentation should contact the IAMG website (www.iamg.org) for possible topics and details. As distinguished lecturer, Jack has given talks at the University of Geosciences in Beijing, the Sandia National Laboratories, and the University of Ottawa. Michele Gordon Mandel (AB 1980) Michele recently celebrated her 31st year at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Michele is a Health Statistician in the Division of Reproductive Health. Most of her years were spent working on a variety of research studies looking at such topics as oral contraceptive use and the risk of breast cancer, ectopic pregnancy, smoking cessation during pregnancy, and most recently, perinatal transmission of HIV in infants and contraceptive use effectiveness in HIV positive woman.
