Assistant or Associate Professor Position in Statistics / Bioinformatics

The Department of Statistics and the Institute of Bioinformatics at the University of Georgia invite applications for a position at the assistant or associate professor level, starting August 2011. Applicants must have a demonstrated research interest in bioinformatics. The tenure home for the position is in the Department of Statistics. A Ph.D. in statistics or a related field is required.

Ming-Hung Kao Receives Award for Paper at ASA Meeting

Congratulations to Ming-Hung (Jason) Kao for being the recipient of one of the awards in the 2008 ASA Statistical Computing/Statistical Graphics Sections paper competition. The award is for the paper "Multi-objective Optimal Experimental Designs for Event-Related fMRI Studies," co-authored by Drs. Mandal, Lazar and Stufken, which will be presented by Jason at a special topic contributed session with the other winners at the 2008 Joint Statistical Meetings in Denver, Colorado, August 3-7, 2008.

Ming-Hung Kao Awarded a James L. Carmon Scholarship

Ming-Hung (Jason) Kao has been awarded a James L. Carmon Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a graduate student whose research reflects state-of-the-art utilization of computer and/or networking technology in the sciences or creative arts. The scholarship was established in memory of Dr. James L. Carmon, a UGA faculty member for 36 years, who helped advance computer research and development at the university.
