Recently, college students from around the state of Georgia participated in Avant South's Innovation Cup. Teams competed to build apps that will serve fans and visitors to the upcoming World Cup with features to promote local businesses, facilitate fan-to-fan experiences, engage with young users, and provide smart city navigation. Among more than 300 participants, UGA students performed strongly. In addition to three School of Computing students on the top-ranked team, the team of Jasmine Nguyen, a junior data science major from Marietta, Georgia, placed third.  Jasmine's "Unity Field" team developed a website to promote engagement among fans unable to attend in person due to high costs and other barriers. Their tool brings families together to create soccer hubs, delivering a rich remote experience of the World Cup. Jasmine's Unity Field team earned a $1,500 award for Best Website UI/UX.

Congratulations to Jasmine and all of the UGA students competing in this event!
