Lunch Lecture:
Navigating the Complexities of Statistical Software Development

Abstract:
Statistical software development is a multidisciplinary endeavor that spans product design, implementation, testing, documentation, and customer support. In this talk, I’ll share personal experiences from working at JMP Statistical Discovery LLC, highlighting the unique challenges and rewards of collaborating with professionals across industries and roles. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at the development process, along with an introduction to lesser known career paths for statisticians and practical guidance for those interested in applying their analytical skills in software development or customer facing roles.”

4:30pm Seminar:
Applying DOE Principles to Statistical Software Testing

Abstract:
Testing statistical software presents unique challenges: developers often double as testers, formal training in software QA may be limited, and time constraints are common. This talk explores how principles from Design of Experiments (DOE) can be leveraged to create efficient and effective test strategies for statistical software. By treating test case construction as a designed experiment, we can uncover bugs, improve coverage of our test cases, and enhance confidence in results. Attendees will gain insights into how statistical thinking can elevate software quality assurance.
