Image: Congratulations to Sloka Sudhin on being selected for the Presidential Award of Excellence—one of the University of Georgia’s most distinguished honors for undergraduate students! The Presidential Award of Excellence is awarded to undergraduate students in their final year of study who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, strong extracurricular involvement, and/or service to and engagement within their respective school or college. Being chosen for this distinction reflects not only Sloka's accomplishments but also the respect and admiration sha has earned from the faculty, staff, and academic leaders within the UGA academic community. Sloka Sudhin is a senior double major Honors student in data science and applied mathematics from Cobb County, Georgia. She is a Goldwater Scholar, a Midterm Foundation Fellow, a Stamps Scholar, a winner of the Kossack Prize and Hollingsworth Award from the Department of Mathematics, and a winner of both a Fall 2023 research assistantship and a summer research fellowship from the UGA Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities. Sloka also was recognized with a Best Student Poster Award at the 2025 Georgia Statistics Day. Since her first semester at UGA, she has worked closely with Dr. Abhyuday Mandal on research projects for which she has been honored. Sloka is also very active in student organizations, having served as president of CodeHub, a student organization that supports the development of coding projects; co-president of Cine Club, an organization that supports Cine Theater in Athens, one of only two independent non-profit arthouse cinemas in the state of Georgia; secretary of Asha for Education, a nonprofit dedicated to providing educational opportunities for underprivileged children in India; treasurer of Stat Club, a student organization to promote social and academic activities among students studying statistics and data science at UGA; and president of Math Club, which hosts biweekly speakers to encourage public engagement and destigmatize mathematics. She is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society and Palladia Secret Society. Sloka Sudhin is one of the most accomplished and well-rounded students at UGA. She exhibits excellence in all she does and truly exemplifies the best characteristics to be found in the UGA student body.
